This document include two parts, the process of digital and physical model. Bascially, the Pavilion France is a waffle model, it is not very hard for making a physical one. How to make a digital model is more difficult for this process of model making. Comparing with Rhinocero6.0 and Sketchup2019, Rhino6.0 is more flexible in digital model makeing. Thus, for making waffle model, I will recommend Rhino6.0. Also, Grasshopper can help to cut all those pieces and make this process simply. But in this document I only introduce the general method of making waffle model. The process of making this model is quite interesting, and the structure of waffle model is stronger than other two models. But for fixing it, UHU is still necessary when you do the model like this one.

Sketch of design
All plans are based on images showed in the Matrix page.
Digital file preparation
1. Using DupBoard order to make the outline of the base, then use Offset to make the contour of the landscape. In this part, the based surface was traced by the plans which were provided in assignment 1. Because the concept of this building is based on the landscape from France. So for this model, it should use the same way to do the inside space.
2. Using Patch order to make the whole inside space of Pavilion France. Patch is better than Loft for controlling the curved surface it made, if the amount of curves is enough. And then, cut all entrances of this model for later connection.
3. For this part, it should connect the surface which just be created and the whole form of the model. and cut out holes at the surface of the form. The connection order in this step is BlendSurface. BlendSurface has 4 different levels for adjusting the curved surface you just create. Choose the appropriate level for make the ceiling of the ground floor.
4. Then using OffsetSrf to make the thickness of the whole form, and using Contour to make the outline of waffle with two different direction, like the image showing. But usually not all curves will be closed, sometimes you should close it by yourself.
5. PlanarSrf for creating the surface of the waffle. Only closed curves can create the surface, and then using Intersect order to mark the object intersection area.
6. Cut out holes for later combination.
*For making the laser cut file, you can select one surface and use the order called Smash for copying a vertical surface into a horizontal way and then DupBoard it for making an outline.
